Auction rules

  1. The core business of ZNAK Ltd is linked to the sale of collectibles and antiques in compliance with the laws of the Russian Federation and the Company’s Articles of Association.
  2. Acceptance procedure for auction items.
А) ZNAK Ltd accepts from legal entities and individuals the following antiques and collectibles for on-line auction sales:
- Orders and award medals (issued before 1917)
- Coins
- Commemorative medals
- Banknotes
- Insignia
- Badges
- Old securities
- Russian antiques and old wartime objects.

The items are auctioned only upon verification of their authenticity and are selected by company experts. In the selection process, prior importance is given to compliance of the item with the auction scope, its authenticity, degree of rarity, price and attractiveness for potential buyers. The price at which the item is auctioned is subject to negotiation between the owner and ZNAK Ltd, the owner’s position playing a crucial role. ZNAK Ltd can refuse a request to auction an item without any explanation with regard to the decision.
B) An auction application can be accepted upon receipt of a high-quality image of the item sent at our email address. In case this is impossible, an item can be brought to our office for expert examination and authentication. To discuss time of your visit, please dial our phone number.
C) ZNAK Ltd assumes custody of the objects accepted for auctioning after an appropriate agreement is concluded, or, as an exception, under a mutual agreement between seller and auction holder the item can remain in custody of the owner, if the owner guarantees submission of such upon request.
D) If the item is sold, ZNAK Ltd pays to the owners the full value of the item, net of 10% commission fee from the selling price of the item (in some cases, the amount of the commission fee may be changed upon the agreement between the parties).
E) In some cases, and upon agreement with the seller, ZNAK Ltd may pay a flat rate for the item as to make such part of the collection of one of the company customers.

3) Auction rules
A) After the item is put to an auction, it is first sold in compliance with the auction principles (i.e., it is sold to the auction participant who offers the maximum bid). Each item is auctioned for a negotiated period (usually one or two weeks). If no bids are received within the specified period, the item is put to sale at a fixed price.
B) The buyer pays to ZNAK Ltd a commission fee in the amount of 5% of the final auction price.
C) The item is sold within the period negotiated between ZNAK Ltd and the seller in the appropriate agreement. On expiry of the auction sale period, the owner can leave the item in the auction. If the object is sold under a conventional sale procedure, the owner can withdraw it from sale after it pays a penalty to ZNAK Ltd in the amount of 10% of the item's flat rate.
D) The value of a bid can be reduced upon agreement with the owner.

4) Auction buyers
А) For registration purposes, auction participants must fill in a special application form.
B) All the collectibles presented on the website are grouped into the following sections:
1) Bonds and banknotes.
2) Coins and desktop medals.
3) Orders and medals (before 1917), insignia and badges.
4) Russian antiques and old wartime objects.

Within each section, the items are classified into three layers, as per their price and rarity criteria. Upon their registration the auction participants can only participate in first-level auctions. For access to the second and third auction levels, a login and password is required; these are distributed to auction participants by the auction holder based on their ratings.
C) Positive and negative rating points are awarded to registered participants depending on the results of performed purchase transactions and reliable records of payments for the purchased lots.
D) The Holder retains the right to ban the bidders’ participation in the auction without clarification, and deny password- and login-based access to second and third-level participants granted that access earlier.
E) The winner of the on-line auction is notified by the staff of ZNAK Ltd personnel by email or phone. Within 14 days upon the notification, the Participant shall pay the full price of the purchased item. If that does not happen, the fact of sale is recognized null and void, and the Holder has the right to re-submit the item for sale.
F) The payment for the purchased objects can be made in cash or by means of a bank transfer in rubles. The company also accepts Visa, Visa Electron, Maestro, Mastercard Electronic, Union Club. When paying by card the customer reimburses the commission of the bank, which is 2,4% of the total paid sum.
G) The auction Holder does not issue or render assistance in obtaining licenses for exporting antiques outside the Russian Federation. The company does not guarantee that upon acquisition of an item the buyer receives the copyright or duplication rights with regard to the purchased item.
H) Having paid the full price for the item the Participant must receive such item at the office of ZNAK company within four weeks. Upon mutual agreement, items may be shipped via insured mail package. The items cannot be mailed outside the Russian Federation.
